Volume

Sometimes, after creating an instance, it is necessary to allocate more space to it, or in another case, it may be necessary to consider a separate space for backing up the instance. Volume (Disk) is one of the many features of ArvanCloud Cloud Server that is used in such cases. These disks are network-based Block Storage.

With this feature, you can create one or more SSD or HDD disks, connect them to your instances, and increase their capacity whenever you need.

Create New Volume

To create a new disk, after entering the ArvanCloud user panel and the Cloud Server menu, go to the Volume section and click the "Create Volume" button.

In the window that opens, specify the type (SSD or HDD) and the capacity of the disk. Then choose a name for the disk and, if you want, attach it to one of the instances you've already created.

Connecting the volume to the instance after its creation is also possible. You can also move the disk between servers by detaching the disk from one virtual machine and attaching it to another.

Detach & Attach Volume

If you did not connect the disk to a cloud when creating it, you can attach it to one of the available instances by clicking on the cloud icon in front of the disk.

At this stage, you can get help from partitioning and mounting the disk to the instance guide.

You can also detach it from the instance by clicking on the cloud icon in front of the disk and confirming the process.

Increase Volume Size

If you ever need more storage space for your disk, you can increase the disk capacity by clicking the "Increase Size" option.

Note that after resizing you have to change the filesystem manually.

Edit Volume Names & Labels

For better and easier disk management, you can always rename them. You can also add labels to disks and delete or edit them whenever you need.

Delete Volume

To delete a disk, click on the "Delete Volume" option.

After confirming this operation, the desired disk will be deleted.

It is important to note that this action will delete the disk and all its files, and the deleted data will not be recoverable in any way.
