Instance PTR Records

Unlike the A record that maps a Hostname to an IP address, the PTR record maps an IP address to a Hostname. This record is used for Reverse DNS Lookup.

Generally, the Reverse DNS performance is precisely the opposite of DNS. DNS maps each domain name to one IP address, so when an access request is sent to a DNS server, the server responds with the IP address in an A record format. However, the Reverse DNS maps each IP to a domain name, so it responds by returning the PTR record.

Usually, the email servers use reverse DNS lookup. If the email servers receive an email from a domain not supported by Reverse Lookup, the email will be considered spam.

Configuring PTR Record in ArvanCloud User Panel

Go to the Internet IP section of your user panel under Networks. Select the internet network your instance is on and click Add PTR Record.

Enter your record details on the opened window and click on the green check mark. Now, the PTR record for your domain is added.
